Our Story
Motivated by our faith in Christ, out mission is to build a community on the Kitsap Peninsula that cares for those experiencing homelessness.
From our humble beginnings in 2009 as a mobile meal provider, we have grown to become an integral part of the safety net for community members experiencing homelessness in Kitsap County. Today we are a strongly established continuous stay shelter that every day, year-round, helps people who are dealing with truly devastating difficulties such as unresolved trauma, mental illness, substance use disorders, domestic violence, and health problems. Through the support of our generous community, we provide the care, rest, nutrition, and opportunities essential for individuals who have few other options.
Our Services
Safe Place to Stay
For families, men and women who would otherwise be left to seek refuge wherever they can, often in parking garages, tents, cars, and other places that are unfit for human habitation
Meals
We provide three nutritious meals per day, every day, to those who have found shelter with us.
Case Management
Case managers serve to connect our guests with available resources. Their care helps enable our guests to stabilize and connect with the services they need.
Other Community Services
We invite other community service providers, such as the Housing Solutions Navigators, to also provide services on site. Our goal is to make access as easy as possible to those staying with us.
Mental Health, Addiction Recovery Support & Medical Services
The Mission, in partnership with Kitsap County’s 1/10th of 1% funds, contracts with Agape’ Unlimited for a full-time substance use counselor (SUDP) who provides crisis intervention, assessment and treatment to our shelter guests. In addition, we contract with MCS Counseling, LLC for a full-time mental health counselor (LMHC) who provides crisis intervention, assessment and therapy services. Using a collective impact approach, the SUDP and LMHC are integrated onto the mission team to create improved access to these life changing services.
The Mission also partners with Peninsula Community Health Services who provides their mobile medical and dental vans to serve our shelter guests with medical and dental needs.

Our Mission & Approach
Motivated by our faith in Christ, our mission is to; “Build a community on the Kitsap Peninsula that cares for those experiencing homelessness.” We do this by:
-
- Reflecting Christ in all we do. We treat fellow staff and our guests with kindness, dignity and respect.
- Loving in practical, tangible ways. We provide emergency shelter, food and other necessities for people experiencing homelessness.
- Being good stewards of God’s resources, promoting a spirit of unity and cooperation with other likeminded Christians that we might all work together for the cause of Christ. Whenever possible we collaborate with other agencies and churches to accomplish serve the needs of our guests.
KRM understands the difficulties, complexities, and challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness. These challenges are compounded by living on the streets. Our emergency shelter is intended to be a resource of last resort, for families, men and women experiencing homelessness who have no other options. The Kitsap Rescue Mission is an equal opportunity service provider. We are committed to providing a welcoming environment for all members of the community who seek our services.
