Hello faithful Donors and Contributors of the Kitsap Rescue Mission!
We wanted to take a moment to tell you how deeply appreciative we are for your love, generosity and continued resources to help us provide our emergency shelter guests, those most vulnerable in our community, with safety and services including: emergency shelter, case management, healthy meals and most importantly the hope that they can move forward to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. We want to include you in our communications to provide you with updates because you are important to our success and to the success of those we serve.
Since I began working with KRM beginning last October, I am so grateful to be able to see the hands and feet of God working day in and day out on behalf of our guests. Our competent and professional team has grown to 14 as we continue to expand from our 80-bed model of shelter to ramp up to serve more people in need as we anticipate hosting up to 120 shelter beds in the coming couple months. Individuals and families in shelter will continue to receive critical and impactful services from the team as they become stable, gain important skills, and prepare for employment and permanent housing.
We want to give a big shout-out to our community partners who provide additional services to our guests. Peninsula Community Health Services provides their medical van each Monday so our guests can access immediate medical care. KCR’s Housing Solutions Center provides us with a Housing Navigator once weekly to assist our guests in contacting landlords and filling our housing applications.
Work Source Kitsap provides employment development and job readiness opportunities once weekly to our guests. And this year for the first time, we have an onsite full-time substance abuse counselor who is integrated onto our shelter team via Agape’ Unlimited to provide intervention, assessment and detox and treatment placement in real time.
And of course, we could do not do our healing work without your help. Know that you are in our prayers, that you are a blessing to the Rescue Mission and that God is the guiding light of all our activities. If you are on social media, be sure and check in on our Facebook page “Kitsap Rescue Mission” as we often provide updated information about shelter activities there.
